Reimagining Certainty :: Practicing Work That Reconnects with Song & Somatics

October 18 & 19th, 2025
Cold Spring, NY
“Modernity is exhausted, let’s meet in the playfulness of uncertainty.
Let’s gesture at the poetry of the impossible.”
~ Bayo Akomolafe
We’ve cooked up a beautiful experience and are so excited to share it with you this Fall. As the leaves turn yellow, orange, red and burgundy we’ll gather for Reimagining Certainty – a two day non-residential retreat. Together we’ll learn and practice Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects, incorporating trauma-informed frameworks, somatic practices and live music. We will be weaving the connections between ourselves, each other, and the Earth. No musical experience or participation necessary!
Erin, Luke and Jenny (facilitator bios) each bring our gifts and a shared belief that practicing Work That Reconnects together can help us soften and shift our narratives, calm our nervous systems, and nurture more peace in our hearts. In a time where so many are gripping tightly to fixed beliefs, we’re curious about what unfolds when we slow down, sit with uncertainty, and listen deeply – to ourselves, the Earth and one another – making space for what wants to emerge.
Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects offers a framework and language for practicing a story of interconnection, centering awe, gratitude, and our mutual belonging to the Earth and to each other.
It is a practice for facing, rather than fearing, our pain for our world, for cultivating resilience, and for remembering our ecological identity. The suffering of humans and the earth are not separate. This work invites us to tend to ourselves, our hearts and our connections, and to discover what becomes possible when we do.
Work That Reconnects is good medicine and we can’t do it alone! We would love to have you join us.
